When answering “what’s your secret for being married 58 years, I always answer Sex, Kids and Rock-N-Roll”. We have defied the conventional aging wisdom … retire at 55, 60 or 65 and start the dying process. We, on the other hand, started a new business at the age of 70, sold it when we were 76 and started a new career … co writing this book. The title is our mantra signifying our love of our children, grandchildren and great grand-sons that have kept us young, so long as we love each other, are sexually active and have danced together for 60 years.

The Wall Street Journal reported in 2017 that, overall, U.S. life expectancy is down for the first time ever. And, according to National Geographic, Americans will have one of the lowest life expectancy's of any developed country.
Why? 50% of Americans are filing for divorce and generally not healthy due to lifestyles habits Plus, the Baby Boomers are flooding the health care industry with multiple chronic illnesses as well as seeking divorce as a change in lifestyle. In fact, there is a new study reported by JAMA and AARP that suggests a “public health crisis” … the study done by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism found “that Alcohol abuse soars by 106.7% in the last ten years for older Americans. Baby Boomers had higher levels of drinking and drug use said Director George Koob”. “Another possible factor: recent economic stresses for older Americans. The 2008 recession had a toll on the most vulnerable, said Bridget Grant, the lead author of the study”. “Brenda IIiff, executive director of Hazelden of Florida was “shocked by the study results”.
Shari and I are here to help you avoid becoming part of these statistics. We know from research, personal experience, coaching other seniors, and a lifetime working in the health industry, that the old way (no pun intended) of doing things is no longer good enough.
My career was CPA firms and Shari's, as my partner in work and life. Our specialty is health care services having owned nursing homes. We are both in our seventies and married 60 years. I saw her in Seventh grade and married her after we graduated from high school. We were married at the ages of 20 and 19. We have four children, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Don't be misled, we have changed or improved our life style habits many times to get where we are just by being fit and happy in our marriage. According to the experts our Real Ages are twenty years less than our calendar ages. We believe, from experience, that our thinking young has influenced every aspect of our marriage, lifestyle and our Real Age results.
I got my start in health care after graduating from college and working for Arthur Andersen & Co. My speciality became Medicare and Medicaid payment for services. Owning and consulting with Nursing Homes has been a major and fulfilling part of that focus over the last 37 years enabling us to successfully practice the 12 habits for healthy living in the restorative programming for our elderly and disabled patients. Resulting in 40% of our admissions going back home ... a new breakthrough for long term care. "Get them in, get them better, get them home" was our motto. Over the years this enabled 43,500 more patients to return home. This saved lives and health care costs. Our Caregiver Management Software System has been implemented in 140 skilled nursing facilities across America implementing our 12 habits for aging happy , youthful and healthy.
My fitness program started at an early age in athletics and has continued all my life. Being a skin cancer survivor keeps me focused on self-health principles. Shari is blessed by genetics but has a pacemaker due to a congenital heart condition, but has always focused on fitness and health in establishing our home lifestyles. Our book details those certain events and results of our evolving marriage and lifestyle habits. Shari and I both have practiced the fit for life diet for forty years. I have been a runner, weight trainer, cyclist, tennis player and now cross trainer. Shari uses Yoga and Palates after having four children. My BMI is 26 and Shari is 22. But more importantly our Real Age is twenty years less than our Chronological age. It does take commitment and time invested to live younger, longer, stronger and happier forever after our marriage vows. Shari and I are giving seminars on Lifestyle Habits for living longer and happier. Our 12 personal habits are the platform for improving a personal Real Age calculations from negative to a positive or improve a positive. Thereby, increasing longevity and quality of life.
July 11th we are conducting a workshop for FP-USA in Addison, Illinois at noon. Wendy Anastasia assistant to the Director of HR is hosting the event. We expect to get referrals for additional workshops for corporate clients based on the success of this workshop. Our participants are raving about our website and social media footprint. We have produced a list of clients for the use of our prospects.
Ironically, the elderly will suffer the most under the current and proposed health care plans. Chronic illnesses will be excluded from most health plans and left to Medicare and Medicaid to pay for. It’s so true that our 12 health preservation habits create a healthy lifestyle for aging that could prevent trillions of dollars wasted on ineffective treatment of chronic illnesses.
